CALL FOR ABSTRACTS Quality and Reflexivity in Qualitative Research: A Postgraduate Conference Wednesday 17th May 2017, University of Leeds It is with great pleasure that the Resonances Committee can now confirm and invite you to our 3rd postgraduate conference on the 17th May, 2017.
This theme of this year's conference is: Quality and Reflexivity in Qualitative Research. We welcome abstracts that are centred on how, as qualitative researchers, we can work towards attaining and judging good quality research, alongside effective and innovative methods of reflexivity, in the following areas:
Data Collection
Data Analysis
Data Representation
Impact of Research
Novice qualitative researchers, as well as those already experienced in qualitative techniques, are all encouraged to submit. For the purpose of accommodating differing levels of experience, the conference will feature two presentation formats: •Standard 15 minute presentations followed by a 5 minute Q&A at the end of the presentation. We expect this will appeal to researchers with some experience of carrying out qualitative research, enabling them to reflect upon their practice. •Short 10 minute presentations followed by a 10 minute Q&A where presenters can ask questions TO the audience. We expect this will appeal to students who are in the early stages of planning or conducting their research. This presentation format will enable students to troubleshoot their ideas, gain valuable insight from conference attendees who have already carried out qualitative research, and develop reflexivity in their work.
Abstracts should be no longer than 350 words in length. The desired presentation format must be indicated at the start of the abstract, i.e. as either Standard or Short. Please email your abstract as a word document with a filename in the following format, where <Familyname> is replaced by your family name: Resonances_Familyname.docx. Include your University affiliation, your full name, and the title of your submission in your email.
Please send all submissions/queries to [email protected] Submission deadline: 12 noon, Friday 17th February, 2017 Notification of acceptance will be sent out via email in the first week of March
Attendance at the conference will be free as the LEAP training hub at the University of Leeds is funding us. However, places are limited, so booking will be required. More information regarding the registration process will be released in March. Presenters and attendees from universities other than Leeds are welcome, but students should apply to their home institution for travel expenses.
